Today is Black Friday. It sounds awful, like Black Monday, the day the stock market crashed in 1929. But for retailers it means — or used to mean — the day of the year when they finally show a profit for their year’s labor. It is also, in normal years anyway, the busiest shopping day of the year. Because Thanksgiving always falls on Thursday many people have Friday and the weekend off and they go Christmas shopping.
This year could be different.
What kind of economy do we have anyway? The rational thing for consumers, to cut back on spending and save more, is wrong according to economists. They say we should be buying stuff. Lots of stuff. We’re the engine of the economy. What appears to be our own best self-interest really isn’t. This is nuts. What kind of economy is based on consumers acting against their own self- interest?
So, because our patriotic duty requires us to spend some money, we might as well have some fun at it. To that end, we present here inexpensive Cardinal-themed Christmas gifts. It certainly is in the best interest of the Fat Finch for you to spend a little money. Besides, Christmas is coming, snow is on the way, and what better way to enjoy winter than with Cardinals.
It’s your patriotic duty and we’re here to help. Just click on a photo and you’ll be whisked away to the Fat Finch Store.
