Male Black-headed Grosbeak
To celebrate this, the 250th post on this blog, we invited two Black-headed Grosbeaks and some House Finches to join us for dinner. They seemed to have a pretty good time, although both the grosbeaks skipped the proffered martinis. Said they were in the middle of migration and couldn’t fly drunk.
Even though he wasn’t drinking, the male grosbeak delivered the toast congratulating us. He then asked of us the same question the late Earl Weaver, once the manager of baseball’s Baltimore Orioles, used to shout at umpires, “Are you going to get any better or is this it?”
